That and Army of Darkness are my all time favorite movies. And back to the future .

Damn, no merchandising at all. I’ve wasted all these years trolling eBay for Spaceballs the flame thrower!

Is it weird that I’m not a fan of Star Wars but I love Spaceballs?

Yes. Heretic.
Shun the non-believer! Shuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnn!

Your name is a lie. You are clearly Ghostbusters.

Why not both?
I am fan of both Sci-Fi universes. Would I prefer that we were headed more toward Trek than Wars at the moment? Absolutely.
But both have their appeal. I honestly don’t understand those who are fans of science fiction and only like one over the other. To each their own.

No merch is one hell of a concession to have to make

Because Star Wars sucks.

I wasn’t trying to argue with you.
Given how influential Star Wars is on modern culture, it most assuredly does not suck.
Also, I never said you had to enjoy it. Only that since I appreciate the merits of both, I just don’t understand those who only prefer one. That is not a judgment of those who don’t agree with me. I’m completely non-confrontational here.

I’m not arguing with you, either. You literally asked a question (“Why not both?”) and I literally answered it. I don’t share your opinion that both franchises have their appeal. You don’t have to agree with my opinion on that.

Star Wars doesn’t interest me in the least, nor does any Sci-Fi really, but Space Balls is hilarious.
We probably are the weirdos here. Embrace the weird. Weird makes the world more interesting.
Related: I can’t listed to anything Kevin Smith says anymore, because it’s just a constant stream of Star Wars references.

Now I really want to watch Spaceballs.
